Power Skating

Better skating for any sport!

The philosophy of our Power Skating program at CCA is to improve and refine pre-existing skills and develop new skills away from the hockey or ringette game. We focus on making sure that once you remove the game play, strategy, and stick handling, there is a strong foundational skater. Particular emphasis is put on posture, shoulder placement, control, edge work, balance, and efficiency of movement.

This program is for children ages 7+. The child must turn 7 before the start of the program. There is only one Power Skating class, so skaters in this program are a wide range of ages and skill levels. All skaters will have the opportunity to work through our skills list to the best of their ability, some faster than others, but with equal opportunity.

View the list of skills that are covered in this class here.

Participants must have previous hockey/ringette/skating experience including completion of our Hockey Buddies program or participation in Timbits or any similar program.

The Power Skating class for the 2023-2024 skating season is currently full and not accepting additional registrations. You may register for the waitlist to be contacted if a space becomes available.

Hockey Buddies

Great hockey players start here!

The Hockey Buddies programs focus on basic skating skills and introducing basic hockey skills.

This program is for children ages 4-5. This is a non-parented class - parents will not be permitted on the ice to assist their child. Skaters must be able to get up in full equipment on their own.

Participants must have previous skating experience:

  • Beginner participants must be able to skate the length of the ice and get up on their own.
  • Advanced participants must be able to execute forward skating and gliding, forward 2-foot stops, and some backward skating.
  • Skaters who do not meet these requirements will be moved to the appropriate level program as required.

Registration for the 2023-2024 skating season is NOW OPEN!
