Equipment Checklist - Power Skating

For Power Skating, the focus is on agility and performance. Unlike Hockey Buddies, this is a non-equipment class, so the gear requirements are much lighter to allow for maximum movement.

To get the most out of our Power Skating sessions, skaters should be dressed for high-intensity movement while staying protected.

1. Mandatory Helmet Policy

  • Requirement: Helmets are mandatory for all participants.
  • Standards: They must be CSA-approved and bear the official approval sticker.
  • Options: Face cages or shields are permitted but not required for this program.

2. Clothing & Protective Gear

  • Athletic Wear: Please wear comfortable, breathable athletic clothing that allows for a full range of motion.
  • Knee Pads: These are highly recommended to protect skaters during edge work and falling drills.
  • Gloves: While hockey gloves are permitted, they are not recommended as they can be bulky and restrictive for the drills practiced in this class.

3. Skates & Sticks

  • Skates: Ensure skates are sharpened and provide strong ankle support for power strides and crossovers.
  • Sticks: Sticks should not be brought to every class. Your coach will specifically notify you if a stick is needed as a teaching aid for a particular session.

Take good care of your skates! Visit our Care of Skates page for more tips & tricks.
